Stir Crazy

When I discovered my car wasn't working Sunday it had already been two days since I had left the house. My brother was nice enough to come over on Wednesday and take the kids and I to lunch and the grocery store, but other than that I've been at home for seven days. It's been really great, mostly. I re-organized the garage and storage area to make room to park the car in the squirrel-free garage when I finally do get it back (hopefully tomorrow), and I cleared out a bunch of old toys and clothes from Mira's room. I haven't been brave enough to set foot in Ryan's room yet, but I doubt there's anything that can be gotten rid of in there. We had friends over on Tuesday and Wednesday, but just for a couple of hours each day. If they hadn't come over, I'd probably really be going crazy.

So, yeah, it's nice to spend some time at home for a change. It's made me want to designate at least two days a week that we don't leave the house, but I'm definitely ready for it to be over.

Oh, and I keep meaning to post about my nephew. I won't use his name here, but you all know who he is. He recently won first chair in the area competition after winning first chair in the regional competition. In a week or two he'll go to the state competition, where I'm sure he'll do great. He was also just chosen to be the principle clarinet player in the Honor Orchestra of America. He's not just a great musician, he's a great kid. His parents (and his aunt) are justifiably very proud of him.
