For a long time I've been thinking that when the children are old enough for me to go back to work I want to do something that involves childbirth, possibly a midwife, possibly a doula. When my friend, who is pregnant, started talking about the hypnobirthing class she's taking and the fact that there's only one person in the D/FW area who teaches it, it made me start thinking. Just a few google searches and e-mails later I was registered to take a four-day course in New Mexico to become certified to teach the class myself. This is such a perfect fit for me. I'll be able to teach the class the one evening a week the kids are with their dad, thus enabling me to not only earn money without taking extra time away from them but also to start preparing for a future career in the field I most want to work in. It's a great match with my strengths and interests too. I've always wanted to teach, but I only want to teach something I'm really interested in to people who are really interested in learning it.
The kids are excited about it too. Their dad is going to come to our house and stay with them while I'm gone. It will be, by far, the longest I've ever been away from them, but I think they're ready for it.
