Road Trip

We finally made the trek to Tyler to visit family yesterday. When we got to Aunt Mid's house she was there with Uncle Jim and Uncle Dot. Clara, my mom's (and Aunt Mid's) cousin came over soon after we got there. Aunt Mid had an idea for a Halloween decoration that involved folding origami bats, and that was right up Ryan's alley. He and Uncle Dot and Uncle Jim went on a quest for origami paper, and Mira and I stayed at the house so Mira could make cookies with Aunt Mid. As the cookies were finishing up and Ryan was folding bats and ghosts, my cousin Teresa and her husband Eric came over. Soon after, my cousin Jimbo arrived with his wife Amy and their daughter Aspen. Mira felt a little shy still, but she talked to everyone at least a little.

We all had a really great day, and both kids are looking forward to the next trip. Last night Mira said "I bet Aunt Mid is missing us and if we called and said we're coming tomorrow she'd say 'OK, y'all just come on up'."

I really want to go for Christmas, but I'm going to have to psych myself up for the 300 mile round trip in one day.
