I loved camping as a child. We went nearly every weekend in the warm months, and it was great family fun. That was before I was the one doing the packing, though, and before I developed such a strong love of indoor plumbing and sleeping in my own bed. So, it was with mixed feelings that I approached Mira's upcoming Girl Scouts Family Campout. It was just supposed to be for one night, and we were all prepared with tents, air mattresses and flashlights. Unfortunately (snicker) the weather didn't cooperate. We weren't prepared for the temperatures to drop into the 30s at night, and I'm a complete wimp when it comes to cold temperatures. We backed out at the last minute, as did most of the other families.
The kids had their hearts set on camping, though, so here's what we did:

Granted, I didn't get to sleep in my own bed, but I was warm and just a few steps away from the kitchen and the bathroom. And s'mores toasted in the toaster oven are just as tasty as when they're cooked over a campfire!

I have an Anne Taintor pic on my computer of a woman lying in bed and the caption reads, "I love not camping". LOL I used to love camping too, before I actually moved here. Now we live in the woods WITH indoor plumbing.. who could ask for more???
Oh my gosh when did Ryan grow all that hair? Your kids have such dark shiny beautiful hair. I'm jealous, I'm going all grey. LOL
