Lucky # 7

The big day is finally here! Mira has been counting down the days til her birthday for a good 6 weeks, and she's been buzzing with excitement for the past week.

With Dad's birthday last week and Mira's this week, I've been all sentimental. Mom and Dad would have gotten such a big kick out of Mira. She's so lively and funny. I've been thinking of Mom more than usual, because I've been out shopping for Mira's birthday. All she wanted is clothes. Yep, at the age of seven, she'd rather get a big stack of clothes than toys any day. Shopping for cute clothes for her reminds me of all the times Mom and I shopped for cute clothes for me (while Mom wore the same old stuff year after year) and the stories she told of shopping with her mom (while Grandmama wore the same old stuff year after year). I guess Mira inherited the clothes-horse gene, and apparently I inherited the "wear really old stuff so you can buy your daughter cute clothes" gene. : )

We had a party at Build A Bear with 8 of Mira's friends (and Ryan, of course):

Then we went to her favorite park with all of her friends.

She was practically bursting with joy all day. I have very few pictures I can share, because she was surrounded by her friends most of the day. I don't want to post pictures of other people's kids.

For at least two weeks, she'd been saying she wanted a dosa as big as the table for her birthday dinner. Usually, she and Ryan share one, because they're quite big. Having her very own was a big deal, and Sree talked to the waiter, telling him it was Mira's birthday and what she wanted. They did a really good job accommodating her. It was rolled up, but I think if we had unrolled it, it would have covered the whole table!

The past year has been such a huge year of growth and change for Mira, and I can hardly wait to see what the next year brings for her.

Wow Pam! What an awesome birthday celebration! I just can't believe "little" Mira is SEVEN! What a great age. :)

And good job inheriting the right genes to be a great mom!
