I guess I need to get it through my head that I no longer have a shy child. Last night at a holiday party, Mira played "Silent Night" on the piano in front of a room full of people. Granted, they were all friends, but considering a year or two ago even people she knew weren't allowed to look her in the eye I'm calling it a win.

It's so easy to get into the habit of thinking people just are a certain way, and it takes some work to see them as they are right now instead.
