Holiday Cheer

The weekend before last we went to the Ft. Worth symphony's annual "Home for the Holidays" show. When it comes to symphony halls the Meyerson still owns my heart, but Bass Hall is definitely spectacular in its' own right. We had a really great evening. Mira was especially thrilled. During every break she excitedly said "I love the symphony!" We're so lucky to live in a small town that affords us access to two cities with such excellent museums, theaters, and orchestras.

Last Thursday was the big "Holiday on the Square" celebration. We took Sage with us, and Nichole and Margaux joined us as well. A lot of our friends were there, but my preoccupation with not losing Sage kept me from finding any of them. Mira, having just recently experienced "Horror on the Square," didn't let go of my hand the entire time. Sage, on the other hand, was like a pin ball bouncing around. He's tremendously fun to be around, and we're all really sorry that his family is moving out of state at the end of January.

Friday we kept up our annual tradition of going to the Gaylord hotel to see ICE! The past two years the ice sculptures were the same, but this year most of the sculptures were new. I'm extremely cold-averse, so it was nice to have something different to take my mind off the shivering.
We seem to be completely incapable of having a day without some sort of social activity, so we had a moms' & kids' sleepover at Nichole's house last night. Because I have such a strong affinity for my own bed, I was really dreading this particular outing. It turned out to be extremely fun despite my misgivings. We cooked together, took a walk to see Christmas lights, played a game where we took turns humming the first lines of Christmas songs for everyone to guess, and had lots of conversations centering around The Book of Questions. It's a great book for starting conversations with people you don't know well, but it's also a lot of fun to go through with really good friends. The kids also watched Rudolph on DVD. Since there were no commercials, they kept pausing the movie and making up their own. It was pretty hysterical, especially the caveats at the end where they listed possible side effects for their products.

I'm glad Mira is sticking close now! I'm so sorry to hear Sage is moving though - that must be really rough on Ryan. :(

The sleepover sounds great!
