Happy Dance!

I got my name back! I called DPS and was told I'd have to have a court order or divorce decree to revert to my birth name. Not one to take no for an answer, I gathered up all my pertinent documents and went to DPS today. After standing in line (with both kids) for an hour, the two people working there told me I could not change my name without a divorce decree or court order. I stood there, still thinking "I'm leaving here with my name today" and the woman who was helping me said she'd go to the back and call some higher authority. When she came back, she asked me if I'd had a Texas drivers license in my birth name before. When I said yes, she said she'd call the microfiche department. If they had a record of it, she would be able to make my change. Of course they had the record, and now I have my name back! I stopped at the bank on the way home and changed my name there too.
