Last week the kids and I made a spur-of-the-moment road trip to Austin. My friend, Karnea has a house in Austin and spends half the week there so she can take her son, who is four and autistic, to a special school there. Her husband was supposed to join her last week so he could take care of their daughter while Karnea took their son in for dental surgery. Her husband hurt his back, so she needed someone to help out. Ryan and Mira really enjoy visiting Maegan (who is 10), so we loaded up the car and headed down there. We always forget that the idea of visiting friends is more fun than the reality of sleeping and eating away from home. I'm glad we were able to help out, but it was definitely nice to come back home.
Mira's big fun activity this week was yelling "CHASE YOU!!!" out of the blue. Ryan would gamely get up and run so she could chase him. It makes me laugh, but I think Ryan will be happy when warmer weather is here and Mira can burn more energy outside.
Yesterday the four of us went to Family Fun Science Day at UNT. We all had a good time, but Mira was especially thrilled. Her Girl Scout troop met there, and Mira was overjoyed to spend the morning with her best friend, Alexandra.
