The week before last, we took our spring break week. We usually like to take a week during the spring to go somewhere fun every day. This year, we went to the Texas Sculpture Garden, The McKinney Avenue Trolley,
The Dallas Museum of Art, The Nasher Sculpture Center
This week we've been playing otuside a lot. Ryan has never been terribly interested in sports, or any physical activity for that matter. Mira has always been pretty athletic, but even she hasn't wanted to do much besides run for a long time. One of our friends has gotten into basketball, and she and Ryan played quite a bit at the park last week. This week we bought basketballs of our own and have been going to the school playground (after school) to play. It's been fifteen years or more since I've even held a basketball, but I've been having a great time running around and shooting baskets like a fool. The kids are having a lot of fun and building confidence too. Today we bought a little portable soccer goal, so Sree even got into the act. Where has all this new energy come from? Well, largely it's a result of the kids allergies being under control. Ryan's asthma has pretty much disappeared with the new diet and treatment, and Mira's allergies have improved drastically with chiropractic treatment.
Mira learned to ride her bicycle without training wheels today. She's feeling a little extra proud of herself. I don't have pictures yet, because so far I've been running alongside her. : )
We got allergy test results back for Mira and myself today. Mira has a long list of food allergies, mostly dairy, grains, eggs, soy and beans along with a couple of fruits. I'm only allergic to almonds. This will be a pretty drastic change for Mira but should be easier for since she'll have no choice but to eat what I'm cooking for the rest of the family. No special mac & cheese or cheese sandwiches. She's not too upset about it as long as she doesn't have to give up something Ryan can still have. ; )

Wow I wonder if this would help Johnny with the diabetes.. I bet insurance won't cover it though. :-(
