I'm leaving for New Mexico tomorrow. This will be the first time the kids and I will have gone a whole day without seeing each other. They are a little nervous, but I feel good about it. I think they're going to be fine. I spent today cooking and doing laundry so they'll have no worries. I cooked 9 meals and did 5 loads of laundry. And had a plumber out to clean out my drain pipe thingie again. And hosted our usual every other Tuesday play date.
Oh, and I took the dogs in to be neutered. 100 pounds of limp dog in the back of the Golf. They look so funny with their head cones on. Hippy seems to think he can't hold his head up with the cone on, so he's sitting around with his head drooping to the ground. Jack is walking like he's drunk.
And to further add to the randomness of this entry...a story.
Last night while brushing my teeth in my bathroom I heard a scream coming from the other bathroom. Not just a scream. A blood curdling scream, followed by a series of screams the likes of which I have never heard. And I knew Mira when she was 3 and 4. I looked in the bedroom, and there was Mira, silent. More truly hair raising screams, by which time I'm envisioning crazed knife-wielding abductors appearing from behind the shower curtain in the other bathroom, from where the screams seem to be coming. (crazed people hiding behind shower curtains have long been a fear of mine) I ran to the bathroom, just a couple of feet away and threw open the door. Ryan was standing up on the bathtub, huddling as close to the wall as he possibly could, emitting more of those other-worldy screams. I quickly established that there were no knife-wielding or other weapon wielding maniacs in the bathroom and inquired, politely, WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG??? Ryan trembled and pointed, stuttering one word: "r-r-r-r-ROACH!" Now the child has lived in Texas for 9 of his 11 years. He's no stranger to bugs. But this one had him shaking and crying (and, as mentioned, screaming). To be fair, it was large enough to put a leash on and take for a walk, but really.

Oh Pam!!! Good luck today [and the rest of the week!] I hope you really enjoy the training, I'd love "talk shop" with you when you get back!
And LOL about that story! I bet Ryan is going to *love* knowing that was posted on the web for the world to see LOL! But God bless him, we have those massive monster roaches in GA too - they call them "water bugs" and I think they are enough to make King Leonidas himself screech like a scared little girl. ;)
I can't believe you made that many meals in one day....I am in awe!
